Yesterday brought sunshine and road trips.
Woke up naturally around 9:00, hopped out of bed, and began getting ready for the road trip of the day- Frankfurt!
When Sebastian first suggested going to Frankfurt, I wasn’t too interested.
What’s so special about the financial capital of Germany? Banks? Fancy cars? Expensive shopping?
After some good persuasion, I agreed to put the funny little town called Frankfurt on our list.
Am I glad I did!
Frankfurt knocked me off my feet.
It reminded me of a German Brussels, another of my favorite cities!
I don’t know, but I instantly felt at home in this city of skyscrapers.
Although I’d studied the map during the drive, we still ended up getting turned around. If you ever visit Frankfurt, I’d recommend visiting the Main Tower first thing, it will give you a good understanding of the city- help you find your bearings a bit. The viewing platform of the Main Tower is 200m high.
Neither one of us acting as if the photo in the mirror is of us. Photographers not the subject of the photograph.
We hopped on the lift and before we could say “take me to the top of the tower,” we were there. What a view!
The sun was perfect for photography! What a beautiful, breathtaking, amazing view!
After our trip to the top, we made a trip to Starbucks for a coffee and treat.
Since the sun was setting fast, we decided to finish our tour by car rather than foot.
As we drove through Frankfurt for one last time, Sebastian mentioned that it reminded him of Chicago. He was right, Frankfurt is very much like Chicago… maybe that explains why I liked it so much!
On the way back to Bonn, we stopped in the capital of the state of Hessen, Wiesbaden. This is a city I definitely want to come back to. Very artsy-fartsy in an old and elegant way.
